Provider execs’ views on the AI opportunity
A new Accenture report reveals that while healthcare leaders are excited about generative AI, most provider organizations are stuck in pilot mode, missing out on the broader benefits of scaling. Despite 60% of executives expecting financial returns within a year, fewer than 10% are investing in the infrastructure needed to support enterprise-wide deployment. Accenture found major misalignment in the C-suite, especially around sourcing AI expertise and redefining job roles. The report urges providers to move beyond small-scale experiments, build strong digital foundations, and collaborate strategically—especially with clinical leaders—to unlock productivity, efficiency, and long-term ROI from generative AI. Dr. Oz’s AI vision for CMS
At his Senate confirmation hearing, Dr. Mehmet Oz, President Trump’s pick to lead CMS, spotlighted AI as a key tool for modernizing healthcare. Oz emphasized AI’s potential to reduce clinician paperwork, speed up prior authorization, and flag fraud within Medicare Advantage. He proposed slashing the number of procedures requiring prior auth from 15,000 to 1,000, calling current processes wasteful and burdensome. While his AI remarks were largely uncontroversial, he stressed the need for guardrails to prevent misuse. Oz positioned technology as a means to streamline care and ease patient frustration: an optimistic vision for CMS’s future. (link)
