Bessemer 2025 predictions

Bessemer Venture Partners has released its 2025 Healthcare & Life Sciences predictions, highlighting how the healthcare and biotech sectors are navigating a transformative era. Here are the AI-related predictions:

  • The U.S. healthcare system must address workforce shortages from the "silver tsunami": As the aging population outpaces caregiver supply, innovations like AI aids, caregiver payment programs, streamlined business models, and upskilling initiatives will be critical to sustain care delivery.

  • Healthcare AI adoption will prioritize ROI and scalability: In 2025, organizations will move beyond pilots, focusing on scalable AI deployments with proven ROI, integration into workflows, and measurable patient outcomes to address financial and operational demands.

  • Foundation model providers will expand into healthcare: Major AI companies are launching specialized healthcare models, sparking strategic shifts and raising questions about their focus—enterprise partnerships, consumer services, or niche biomedical applications.

  • Multimodal clinical AI will face commercial challenges despite technical maturity: While operational use cases drive adoption, reimbursement and workflow barriers hinder the potential of multimodal AI in diagnostics, limiting its transformative impact on healthcare systems.

  • AI conversation will shift in focus toward happier jobs and workforce multiplier capabilities: In 2025, AI adoption will prioritize enhancing workforce capabilities, fostering collaboration, and building trust to address shortages, improve efficiency, and redefine AI as a workforce multiplier, not a threat.

With scalable AI implementations, therapeutic breakthroughs, and novel care models on the horizon, 2025 promises to reshape the industry by addressing fundamental challenges in healthcare delivery and access through innovation, value creation, and resilience. (link)
